1975. This is Route 16 south of Errol, NH. The start for the downriver sprint race on the Androscoggin River, about 2-miles long. It started at the dam (my not be there anymore) ending just below the rapids.

Keech LeClair in the slalom race at the 1981 WWOC Nationals on the Nantahala River, NC. Notice the bending of his wooden paddle.

John Berry also in the slalom race at the 1981 WWOC Nationals on the Nantahala River, NC. I'm not sure why he named his boat "ME OC-1L"

Kevin racing slalom. This was our early days. We had knee pads, probably the type strapped to the legs and no thigh straps. We just kneeled and were not wearing our boats then.

John Kazamyrchek (I'll fix the spelling soon) during practice at the 1986 Nationals on the Indian Rover, NY.

My boat being measured for the 1980 Nationals in Phoenicia, NY. It had to be over 180" long to qualify. It was 180 1/8" long, at least until we hit the bridge after gate 1. I added 2" to the boat's manufactured length of 14' 10" using a heat gun and hydraulic jacks.

Reading the scores posted on my van at a practice race in New York.

John Kaz made helmets for sale at a race.

2010 Nationals in Maryland. The man made whitewater river was usually for commercial rafting use, and it was on top of a hill. The water turned off when not in use.

With the water on, it was more challenging. I enjoyed this event and was the starter for almost every competitor.
